U10 Community games county final


On Friday evening Donaghmoyne took on Monaghan town in the u10s community games football final in Drumhown. On a damp evening both teams were looking to get there hands on a gold medal. Monaghan started off with a goal just after 2 minutes. They followed that score with another good point before donaghmoyne hit back with 2 well taken points. Monaghan hit the last score before the 1st water break to leave them up by 3 points. The second quarter was a tight affair with only one score coming from play by the donaghmoyne corner forward which left the score at half time Donaghmoyne 0.03 Monaghan 1.05 Monaghan started the 3rd quarter the same way they started the first by scoring not one but 2 goals in the first 4 minutes. Donaghmoyne hit back with a point but another goal before the 2nd water break put Monaghan in the driving seat and lead by 10 coming into the 4th quarter. To Donaghmoyne's credit the heads didn't drop and they fought back with 2 quick goals and a point to leave just 3 points between the sides coming into the last few minutes. As Donaghmoyne pushed for one more goal they got caught out in attack and conceded one more goal right at the finish which sealed the win for Monaghan.
